•Zenobia was the Queen of the Palmyrene Empire in Syria.
•This ancient queen of Palmyra conquered Egypt, captured Roman provinces, and nearly transformed her realm into an empire equal to Rome.
•After her husband Odaenathus was assassinated in 267 or 268 AD, Zenobia became regent for her young son Vaballathus.

•In 269 AD she conquered Egypt, then conquered much of Asia Minor and declared her independence from Rome.
•However, the Roman emperor "Aurelian" defeated her armies at Antakya in Turkey, and Hims in Syria and besieged Palmyra.
•Zenobia and Vaballathus were captured and the Palmyrenes soon surrendered.
•According to some historians, Zenobia starved herself to death during the trip to Rome.
•The statue is located at the Mediterranean Sea in Lattakia, Syria.
